Teens Explore Post-High School Options at Alternatives to College Night

The Teen Action and Support Center (TASC) is set to host its inaugural Alternatives to College Night on August 29, 2023, from 17:30 to 19:30 at The Hub in Rogers, Arkansas. This event aims to provide high school students and their parents with an opportunity to explore various post-secondary options beyond traditional college education.
Taking place at The Hub, located at 1194 W. Walnut Street, the event will feature representatives from local trade schools, technical institutions, and beauty academies. The casual, drop-in format encourages attendees to engage with professionals and learn about alternative pathways that can lead to rewarding careers.
Community Support and Participation
Several local organizations are collaborating to support Alternatives to College Night. Partners include Pak Home Realty, the NWACC Certificate Program, Arkansas Workforce Connections, Brightwater, and the Career Academy of Hair Design. Additional participants include the Arkansas College of Electricity, the Academy of Professional Cosmetology, Frisco Tattoo, State Farm, NWTI, Trailside Yoga, and the Rogers Fire and EMT Department.
Founded in 2005, TASC serves teenagers aged 13 to 19 in Benton and Washington Counties. The organization operates three locations, including The Hub and the Restore Counseling Center in Rogers, as well as The Station in Springdale. TASC’s mission is to empower youth through programs and resources that enhance their lives and foster successful transitions into adulthood.
Empowering Youth Choices
Alternatives to College Night aligns with TASC’s commitment to providing comprehensive support for teens. By introducing them to various career paths, the event aims to broaden their horizons and inform their choices about life after high school. This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the diverse opportunities available beyond traditional college education.
As the landscape of education and employment continues to evolve, events like this play a crucial role in equipping young people with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their futures. By fostering connections between students and local professionals, TASC is helping to pave the way for successful career development in the community.
