Maui County Workshop Empowers Volunteer Leaders on October 1

Maui County’s volunteer leaders and managers are invited to enhance their skills at a free workshop scheduled for October 1, 2023. Organized by HandsOn Maui, the County of Maui Volunteer Center, the session will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Courtyard by Marriott Maui Kahului Airport. This initiative aims to equip nonprofit leaders with essential tools for effectively engaging and motivating their volunteers.

The workshop, titled “How to Inspire, Motivate and Communicate with Your Volunteers in Ways that Cost Nothing,” will be led by Alt Kagesa, a seasoned facilitator with more than three decades of experience. Kagesa will share strategies that focus on leveraging purpose to drive volunteer engagement, vital for fostering strong, connected teams within nonprofit organizations.

Lori Tsuhako, the Director of the County Department of Human Concerns, highlighted the significance of volunteers, stating, “Volunteers are the heart of our community.” She emphasized that the workshop will provide leaders with the necessary tools to guide and inspire their volunteers, who play a crucial role in the success of various missions across Maui County.

Participants can expect a diverse range of learning opportunities, including effective communication techniques. The fact that the workshop is offered free of charge makes it particularly appealing, although interested individuals are encouraged to register promptly. Space is limited to 25 attendees, with a registration deadline approaching on September 25, 2023.
