A recent ranking has highlighted the best public middle schools in Missouri for 2023, showcasing institutions that excel in various educational metrics. Compiled by Niche, the list evaluates schools based on five key factors: academic performance, teacher quality, overall district grade, culture and diversity, and feedback from parents and students. Notably, online schools were excluded from this assessment.

Top Ten Public Middle Schools in Missouri

Nipher Middle School based in the Kirkwood School District, ranks tenth on the list. Serving grades six to eight, this school has an enrollment of 651 students, with a favorable student-to-teacher ratio of 12:1. Niche awarded the school an impressive grade of A.

Following closely at ninth place is Rockwood Valley Middle School, located in the Rockwood R-VI School District. With an enrollment of 643 students and a 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio, it too received an A grade from Niche.

The eighth position is held by Delta Woods Middle School, situated in the Blue Springs R-IV School District. This school caters to 808 students with a 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio and has also earned an A grade.

Seventh place goes to Wildwood Middle School, another institution in the Rockwood R-VI School District, with an enrollment of 543 students and an excellent 11:1 student-to-teacher ratio, achieving an A grade.

In sixth place is Summit Lakes Middle School from the Lee’s Summit R-VII School District. With a larger student body of 1,033 and a 16:1 student-to-teacher ratio, the school maintains a strong A grade.

At fifth position is Parkway West Middle School, part of the Parkway School District. This school has 922 students enrolled and a student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, also receiving an A grade.

Fourth place is awarded to Brentwood Middle School in the Brentwood School District. With a smaller enrollment of 164 students and a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, it stands out with an A grade.

The third spot belongs to Crestview Middle School, located in the Rockwood R-VI School District. This school serves a larger group of 1,142 students with a 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio, maintaining an A grade.

The runner-up is Ladue Middle School from the Ladue School District. With an enrollment of 1,031 students and a 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio, it has achieved a top-tier A+ grade.

Finally, the top position is held by Wydown Middle School, which is part of the School District of Clayton. This school accommodates 615 students and boasts an excellent 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, earning an impressive A+ grade.
