Beloved Community Member Shane J McBreen Passes Away at 49

Shane Joseph McBreen, a cherished member of the Glastonbury community, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 49. Known for his warmth and dedication to helping others, Shane’s legacy will be remembered by many who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Born on February 10, 1976, Shane grew up in Glastonbury and attended Glastonbury High School, graduating with the class of 1994. He furthered his education at Radford University in Virginia, where he honed both his academic skills and his commitment to community service. Throughout his life, Shane was actively involved in volunteer work, striving to support those in need within his community.

Shane leaves behind his parents, Cornelius and Laura McBreen, as well as his beloved daughter, Laurel McBreen. He is also survived by his uncles, Christopher Curtis and Dennis McBreen, along with cousins Thomas and Billy McBreen. Additionally, Shane is remembered fondly by three childhood friends: Jasper, Jaclyn, and Ben, who shared countless memories with him.

As a testament to Shane’s spirit of giving, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Outreach Director Fund at Center Church, located at 60 Gold St., Hartford, CT 06103. This initiative reflects Shane’s dedication to helping others and will continue to support the less fortunate in the community.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Remembrance

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for November 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Church, located at 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Following the service, Shane will be laid to rest at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield, CT 06002. Friends, family, and community members are encouraged to attend and pay their respects, celebrating the life of a man who left a positive impact on so many.

Shane’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of community and compassion. His legacy will live on through the memories shared by those whose lives he touched.
