TikTok Users Experiment with Hummus in Ninja Creami Machine
The Ninja Creami, a popular ice cream maker, has captured the attention of users on TikTok for its unconventional use in making hummus. This appliance, renowned for its ability to create customized ice cream flavors, has sparked a lively debate among social media users about the appropriateness of transforming chickpeas into a frozen dish.
With its online popularity, the Ninja Creami has garnered significant praise. It has frequently sold out and received a review score of 4 stars out of 5 from various sources, including Tom’s Guide, which noted its convenience and ease of cleaning. Yet, the recent surge in videos featuring hummus preparation has left many questioning whether such an application is a culinary innovation or a misguided experiment.
TikTok’s Divisive Hummus Recipe
One TikTok creator, using the handle @fitnessproductfinder, has ignited a conversation with a video showcasing this unique hummus recipe. The clip presents the process of blending chickpeas, water, and seasoning into what some users affectionately dubbed “chickpea ice cream.” While some viewers have applauded the creativity behind this approach, others have expressed skepticism about the final product’s authenticity and practicality.
Comments on the video reveal a split opinion. Some viewers embraced the idea, suggesting it could be a clever alternative for those with dietary restrictions. One commenter noted, “I have a sesame allergy, so this is perfect!” Conversely, others voiced their disapproval, questioning why anyone would desire cold hummus.
The Missing Tahini Debate
A notable point of contention in this recipe is the absence of tahini, a traditional ingredient in hummus. Critics argue that tahini is essential for the dish, and one user from the Middle East remarked, “I don’t approve of this ‘hummus’ without tahini.” In response, the recipe creator claims that the flavor remains robust without it, appealing to those mindful of their dietary macros.
The Ninja Creami’s instruction manual advises against blending dry ingredients, which is why the creator utilized chickpea water in the recipe. It explicitly states, “This is NOT a blender,” emphasizing proper usage to avoid damaging the machine.
The video creator also mentioned that the mixture freezes exceptionally hard, requiring multiple spins in the machine. To facilitate processing, he suggests running the frozen tub under warm water briefly before placing it back in the device. The Scoop and Lite Ice Cream settings were used to achieve the desired texture, with the Lite Ice Cream setting designed for lower sugar or fat content, making it suitable for health-conscious users.
As the discussion surrounding this unconventional recipe continues, it remains to be seen whether more individuals will attempt to replicate this frozen hummus at home. The Ninja Creami’s unique ability to blend flavors has opened new avenues for culinary exploration, even if some traditionalists may not fully embrace these innovations.
Whether it leads to a new trend or fades into the background, the intersection of TikTok culture and kitchen appliances is undoubtedly reshaping how we think about food preparation.
