Samsung to Enhance A-Series Cameras with New Sensors in 2026
Samsung is set to upgrade its budget Galaxy A-series smartphones next year, introducing significant improvements to their camera systems. A report by SmartPrix reveals details about the anticipated Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57, suggesting that these models will feature enhanced sensors aimed at improving photo quality.
Camera Upgrades for Galaxy A37 and A57
The Galaxy A37 is expected to showcase a major change with the inclusion of Sony’s IMX906 sensor for its main camera, available in select markets. This sensor boasts a larger 1/1.56-inch optical format compared to the 1/1.95-inch IMX882 used in the Galaxy A36. This upgrade is likely to enhance low-light performance and reduce image blur, providing users with a more reliable photographic experience.
In addition to the primary camera, the Galaxy A37 will reportedly include an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP macro camera. The front-facing camera is expected to feature a 12MP sensor, further catering to users who prioritize selfies and video calls.
The Galaxy A57, while not as dramatically upgraded, will still see some enhancements. Early indications suggest it may incorporate the ISOCELL S5KGNJ main sensor in certain markets, though this sensor is similar in size to the one used in the A37. The A57 will also feature a 13MP ultra-wide lens and the same 5MP macro camera as its counterpart. Notably, the front camera will utilize a 12MP ISOCELL S5K3LC sensor, which may appeal to fans of wide-angle photography.
Potential Release and Performance Enhancements
Speculations regarding the release of Samsung’s next-generation A-series phones suggest they could hit the market as early as February 2026. This timeline would precede the traditional March release, possibly in response to delays in the Galaxy S26 series, which has been reported to launch later than expected.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A37 may feature the Exynos 1480 chip, while the Galaxy A57 could be powered by the Exynos 1680 processor. This shift is notable, as the Galaxy A36 was equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Transitioning to Exynos processors may represent a significant change in Samsung’s strategy for its mid-range models.
