Shimon Whiteson, a leading expert in machine learning for autonomous vehicles, recently shared insights on the advancements in driverless technology during an episode of the podcast Robot Talk. Whiteson, who serves as a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Waymo UK, discussed the critical role that machine learning plays in enhancing the intelligence of driverless vehicles.

Following this, he spent eight years at the University of Amsterdam as an Assistant and then Associate Professor, before moving to Oxford in 2015.
A notable highlight of Whiteson’s career was the founding of his spin-out company, Latent Logic, which was acquired by Waymo in 2019. This acquisition marked a significant milestone in his career, allowing him to apply his research directly within one of the most innovative companies in the autonomous vehicle sector.
