Ronny Glanton, a prominent figure in North Texas golf, has received significant recognition by being inducted into the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by the City of Richardson, where Glanton serves as the head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course, a position he has held for the past 40 years.
Glanton will be part of the 2025 Hall of Fame class, joining notable figures such as Nancy Lopez, an LPGA Tour legend, and renowned teaching professional Jim McLean. The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 5, 2025, at the PGA of America’s headquarters in Frisco, Texas.
A Legacy of Excellence in Golf
With an impressive career that spans decades, Glanton’s accolades include being honored as the PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year in 2020, and receiving the Northern Texas PGA (NTPGA) Golf Professional of the Year award multiple times (1999, 2007, and 2019). His dedication to the sport and community has also earned him the NTPGA Bill Strausbaugh Award and the title of NTPGA Merchandiser of the Year in 1994.
In a statement reflecting on his induction, Glanton expressed his gratitude: “This new, national recognition is truly humbling, and I am tremendously grateful to the PGA of America and my fellow members. I want to thank the City of Richardson and my team at Sherrill Park for supporting my work and for all they do to continue promoting the wonderful game of golf in our community.”
Contributions to the Golf Community
Glanton’s influence extends beyond personal achievements. He has played a pivotal role in supporting his fellow professionals, raising over $100,000 through pro-ams aimed at assisting PGA members facing medical hardships. His commitment to the sport is further demonstrated by his participation in various championships; he has competed in the PGA Professional Championship four times and the Senior PGA Professional National Championship five times. Additionally, he has taken part in the PGA TOUR Byron Nelson event seven times.
A three-time NTPGA Major Champion and six-time Senior Division Major Champion, Glanton has also been a significant member of the NTPGA Joe Black Cup Team, representing the team in 17 competitions and serving as captain three times.
