Elks Lodge Hosts Jam Session, Raises $700 for Veterans Program

The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge No. 2379 organized a successful jam session on August 29, 2023, bringing together local musicians and veterans to raise funds for the nonprofit organization, Guitars for Vets. The event featured live music and a hearty roast beef dinner, providing a supportive atmosphere for veterans and their families.

Veterans Committee Chair Jeannette Fisher played a key role in the event, coordinating a complimentary dinner for veterans. Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed classic tunes performed by members of Guitars for Vets, alongside several talented musicians from the Elks Lodge. Nearly 100 meals were served, including 26 complimentary plates for veterans, ensuring they were honored and appreciated during the gathering.

Guitars for Vets is dedicated to providing free guitar lessons to veterans, helping them find solace and community through music. Participants complete a 10-week course and receive a free guitar upon completion, allowing them to continue their musical journey. The Elks Lodge’s initiative not only showcased local talent but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among veterans and supporters.

Thanks to the generosity of patrons during the jam session, the Elks Lodge raised $700 in tips and donations to support the Guitars for Vets program. This contribution will directly impact local veterans, helping them access the resources they need to engage with music and improve their well-being.
