Amber Jean Rowan is set to host a pop-up event at the SoHo House in Austin, Texas, from October 28 to November 2, 2023. Known for its bespoke wigs designed for individuals experiencing hair loss, Amber Jean aims to support women by providing them with personalized style options. This initiative follows successful pop-ups in Dublin, Edinburgh, and Copenhagen and marks the company’s first venture into the United States.

To further engage with its clientele, Amber Jean will also launch a wig rental service next month. This service allows customers to try out various styles for three days, six days, two weeks, or four weeks, enabling them to explore their options in a supportive environment. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Amber Jean Rowan expressed excitement about expanding into the U.S. market, stating, “We always knew that we wanted to go to the USA. The USA clientele has always been massive for us.”

Rowan founded Amber Jean in 2021 after a long personal journey with hair loss due to alopecia, which she faced for over a decade. Losing her hair at just 15 years old, she encountered numerous challenges in finding solutions. “The idea of having to wear a wig was literally the most triggering and challenging thing you can even imagine,” she recalled. With her background in modeling and acting, Rowan reached into her professional network but still struggled to find wigs that felt authentic and comfortable.

“For years, I put on wigs that looked fake or didn’t fit well. It was better than embracing my hair freeness, so I wore that bad wig for around 10 years,” she explained. Eventually, she discovered better options but recognized the ongoing difficulties many face in finding suitable hair replacement solutions. This realization led her to create a blog called “Hair Free Life,” where she provided advice and shared experiences related to hair loss, whether from alopecia, cancer treatment, or other conditions.

Amber Jean launched with the goal of offering high-quality wigs, compassionate consultations, and aesthetically pleasing environments—an approach that contrasts sharply with her earlier experiences. The upcoming pop-up in Austin will allow customers to book consultations, try on various wigs, and have their custom wigs tailored to their specifications. These personalized wigs will be delivered within six weeks, with opportunities for further adjustments if necessary.

“When you enter this wig world and it’s so new to you, it’s overwhelming,” Rowan noted. “If I can clear out some of the confusion and make the process simple for them, that’s super important for me.”

Looking ahead, Amber Jean plans to host additional pop-ups in Los Angeles, New York City, Paris, Barcelona, and Sweden over the next year. Additionally, Rowan is working on opening another permanent store in her hometown of Dublin, expected to launch in summer 2026. With these steps, Amber Jean is poised to deepen its connection with consumers in the U.S. and provide essential support to those experiencing hair loss.
