Ice Cream Factory Issues Urgent Recall of Vanilla G.Nutt Flavour

Ice Cream Factory, based in Mount Vernon, New York, has initiated an urgent recall of its Vanilla G.Nutt flavour due to a serious health risk associated with an undeclared allergen. The recall affects a total of 40 pints, eight quarts, and three half gallons of the ice cream, which may contain almonds not specified on the packaging.

According to a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), individuals with allergies or severe sensitivities to tree nuts could face life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The affected ice cream has an expiration date of March 2027.

The recall specifically includes products with the following Universal Product Codes (UPC): for the pint, 8 56781 00361 3; for the quart, 8 56781 00362 0; and for the half gallon, 8 56781 00363 7. The pints and half gallons are packaged in plastic, while the quart containers are made of white paper.

Distribution and Customer Advisory

The recalled ice cream was primarily distributed within New York State, reaching Golden Krust stores in Mount Vernon and White Plains, as well as Farm County Supermarket located in the Queens borough of New York City. The company has stated that it has not received any reports of illnesses related to the consumption of the Vanilla G.Nutt flavour.

Ice Cream Factory advises customers who have purchased the affected products to return them for a full refund or to exchange them for a different flavour. Those with inquiries are encouraged to contact the company directly for assistance.

This recall follows a series of similar incidents in the ice cream industry. Less than a month ago, Friendly’s Ice Cream recalled 324 cartons of its Cookies & Cream flavour due to an undeclared allergen, soy. This product was mistakenly packaged in Vanilla Bean cartons, accompanied by a Cookies & Cream lid. Additionally, an earlier recall involved over 110,000 cases of Rich Ice Cream Co ice cream bars, which were elevated to a Class II warning due to potential listeria contamination.

As food safety remains a paramount concern, consumers are reminded to always check product labels and stay informed about recalls that may impact their health.
