Norfolk Public Schools Board of Education Meeting Agenda Announced
The upcoming meeting of the **Norfolk Public Schools Board of Education** is set for **January 12, 2024**, at the central administration office located at **512 W. Phillip Ave.** The meeting will commence with a special session at **15:00** (3 p.m.) to discuss the superintendent interview process, followed by the regular meeting at **17:30** (5:30 p.m.). Agenda Highlights and Action Items
The board’s agenda includes several significant action items. After the special meeting, the board will conduct at least two closed sessions aimed at identifying finalists for the superintendent position and discussing contract negotiations. The board may take action following these sessions.
Additional items for consideration include the signing of the code of ethics and the selection of key board positions for **2026**, such as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and recording secretary. The board will also evaluate its legal firm, designate depository banks, and select a newspaper of record, alongside credit card and fleet card designations.
Members will consider appointments to the board’s **11 committees**, and a series of reports will be presented. Specific contracts for educators **Crystal Brummels**, **Morgan Cook**, **Sandra Gaspers**, and **Rhiannon Van Fleet** will also be reviewed. The board will discuss the resignations of several staff members, including **Roberto Acuna**, **Lexi Bacon**, **Kimberly LaMie**, **Maria Moje**, **Jennifer Schick**, **Rhiannon Van Fleet**, **Robert Beeson**, **Mark Claussen**, and **Dawn Reedy**. Notably, Van Fleet’s contract and resignation will be addressed, as he is set to teach only during the spring semester.
Furthermore, the board will consider the approval of claims and review the staff and parent calendars for the **2026-27** academic year. Policies regarding attendance at professional growth meetings, as well as the adoption, amendment, or suspension of policies, will also be on the agenda. The procurement plan and internal controls will be discussed, and requests for proposals related to several infrastructure projects will be released. These projects include the replacement of a cooling tower at Norfolk Middle School, repainting the auditorium at Norfolk Junior High, and roof replacement at Norfolk High School, along with the procurement of one route bus and one mini bus.
