New “I Voted” Stickers Unveiled by New Hampshire Students

New Hampshire is set to refresh its election experience with a new series of “I Voted” stickers, thanks to the creativity of local students. Six young winners, including 10-year-old Mahima Singh from Lebanon, contributed their designs to a statewide contest organized by the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s Office.

Singh was one of nearly 3,000 students who participated in the sticker contest, which aims to engage young voters and promote civic participation. Her design features several iconic elements representing New Hampshire, including the silhouette of the Old Man of the Mountain, adorned with a smile. Singh reflected on her artistic choice, stating, “When you actually see it… he’s very, like, strict and stuff. So I just drew him with a smile so he’d look a little better.”

In addition to the smiling figure, her sticker incorporates the famous state motto, “Live Free or Die,” positioned beneath the silhouette. Singh expressed her appreciation for the motto, saying, “It’s, like, very clear and understandable.” Her design also includes a moose, a depiction of Mount Washington, and a banner highlighting New Hampshire’s status as “First in the Nation” for the presidential primary.

Singh learned of her victory on Thursday and expressed gratitude to her family and her fourth-grade teacher, who played a significant role in her understanding of the state’s history. “I want to give a big shout out to her because she was like the best teacher ever,” Singh remarked.

Celebrating Young Talent

The other winners of the contest are Bianca Prizio of Milford, Sadie Winter of Windham, Evelyn Meyer of Chester, Nirali Batra of Etna, and Sierra Winslow of Nottingham. All winners are either in the fourth or fifth grade, showcasing the artistic talents of young residents across the Granite State.

The “I Voted” sticker contest, initiated two years ago, encourages students to express their creativity while learning about the electoral process. This initiative not only highlights the importance of voting but also fosters a sense of community among young citizens.

As New Hampshire prepares for the upcoming elections, these stickers will serve as a vibrant reminder of the state’s democratic values and the enthusiasm of its youth. The winning designs will be distributed at polling places next year, providing voters with a unique memento of their civic duty.
