Miami Climbs to No. 2 in AP Top 25; Remembering Bernie Parent

The latest Associated Press Top 25 college football poll sees Miami soaring to the No. 2 position, just behind Ohio State. This marks Miami’s highest ranking since 2017, as they surpassed both LSU and Penn State, which slipped to No. 3 after an idle week. Oklahoma made a significant return to the top 10 for the first time in two years, while Indiana and Texas Tech also made notable advances following dominant wins over ranked opponents. The top ten is rounded out by Georgia, Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M, and Texas, with LSU falling to No. 4 after a comfortable win.
In other sports news, legendary hockey figure Bernie Parent has passed away at the age of 80. The Philadelphia Flyers announced his death on Sunday, though details were not immediately available. A former teammate confirmed that Parent died in his sleep. Known for his iconic presence on the ice, Parent led the Flyers to their only two Stanley Cup championships in 1974 and 1975. His contributions to the sport earned him a place in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984, and his jersey number 1 was retired by the Flyers, solidifying his legacy in Philadelphia.
In the Premier League, Arsenal managed a dramatic 1-1 draw against Manchester City, thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Gabriel Martinelli.
