Lyons Schools Celebrate New Year with Annual Back to School Bash

The Lyons Central School District marked the beginning of the 2025-26 academic year with its annual Back to School Bash on August 27, 2025. This vibrant event took place at the elementary and middle/high schools, drawing hundreds of students, families, staff, and community members together to celebrate the forthcoming school year.
Community Engagement and Activities
The Back to School Bash has become a cherished tradition in Lyons, occurring on the Wednesday before classes commence. This year’s celebration was characterized by a lively atmosphere filled with energy and excitement. It provided numerous opportunities for students and families to engage with each other and the broader community.
Students participated in a variety of activities aimed at preparing them for the upcoming school year while enjoying fun and free school merchandise. They met their teachers, reconnected with classmates, and explored community resource tables that offered valuable information. Middle and high school students received their schedules, practiced using their lockers, and discovered various ways to get involved in school activities.
Interactive attractions, including bounce houses and bubble play facilitated by Bunch of Bubbles, kept the energy levels high throughout the evening. Additionally, youngsters had the chance to tour a fire truck with the Lyons Fire Department, adding an element of excitement to the festivities.
Inspiring Words and Culinary Delights
Families were also treated to insights from Alyssa Blask Campbell, a New York Times best-selling author, who shared helpful tips for supporting students during the school year. Her presence underscored the event’s focus on fostering a supportive educational environment.
The community atmosphere was further enhanced by local food trucks such as P.J.’s Pit Stop, The Lemon Drop, Rollin’ Stones Pizza, and Nani’s Treats, offering a range of delicious meals and desserts for families to enjoy.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Barr emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “This is what makes Lyons so great, bringing our schools, families, and community together. The Back to School Bash is a celebration of everything we value here: connection, support, and excitement for learning.”
The Back to School Bash not only prepares students for the first day of school but also reinforces the partnership between the district, families, and the wider community, embodying the spirit of collaboration that defines Lyons.
