The Center for the Arts has announced the launch of its 6th Annual Teen Writers Contest, inviting young writers to showcase their creativity and talent. This initiative aims to celebrate the voices of teens aged 12 to 18 who reside in or attend school in regions such as Andover, Bradford, Danbury, Grantham, New London, and others. Participants are encouraged to submit original pieces in categories that include short fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.

Tom Coverdale, a respected figure in literary education, will serve as the judge for this year’s contest. Coverdale recently retired after a notable 37-year career teaching Advanced Placement literature and composition at the high school level. His extensive background also encompasses theater, speech, and various writing forms, making him an ideal choice to evaluate the submissions.

Writers are invited to submit their works before the deadline of December 15, 2025. Entries will be reviewed, and winners in each category will be honored during an awards ceremony in January. This event will provide a platform for young authors to present their work to family, peers, and the wider community. Additionally, winners will have their pieces published in the Center for the Arts’ Teen Writers Project journal, further enhancing their exposure and recognition.

The contest serves as an opportunity for teens to connect with a vibrant community of artists and to express their unique perspectives through the written word. Participants may submit entries in multiple categories, allowing for a broader representation of their creative abilities.

For more information on submission requirements and to access specific genre guidelines, interested individuals can visit the Center for the Arts’ official website at www.centerfortheartsnh.org/teen-writers-contest. The initiative highlights the importance of nurturing young talent and encourages the next generation of writers to step into the spotlight.
