Miami-Dade County Revamps MetroConnect Service for Weekdays Only
Changes to the MetroConnect on-demand transit service in Miami-Dade County will take effect on February 1, marking a shift towards weekday-only operation. The adjustments, announced by the Department of Transportation and Public Works, will affect service areas, hours, and fare structures.
MetroConnect will now operate exclusively from Monday to Friday, with service hours set between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Weekend services will be discontinued, which may impact commuters who typically rely on the service during those days.
Under the new fare structure, riders will incur a charge of $3.75 per trip. A discounted fare of $1.50 will be available for trips that either start or end at designated transit hubs, which connect to the Metrorail, Metrobus, or the TransitWay.
Significant changes will also affect specific service zones. MetroConnect will no longer provide service in the Civic Center and Waterford Business District areas. Commuters in these zones are encouraged to explore alternative public transportation options.
Despite these reductions, MetroConnect will maintain service in its remaining designated zones, ensuring curbside pickup and drop-off for riders. For further information regarding the changes in service areas and available transit options, users can visit the MetroConnect website.
Additionally, riders can sign up for transit alerts through Miami-Dade County’s official channels and follow the department’s social media accounts for real-time updates.
