Toyota Revives Scion Brand with High-Performance Side-by-Side at SEMA

Toyota is making waves at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas by unveiling several innovative vehicles, including a striking concept car aimed at revamping the image of the Camry. Among its noteworthy introductions is the unexpected return of the Scion brand, now represented by a high-performance side-by-side called the Scion 01. Originally launched as a no-haggle pricing vehicle line, Scion was discontinued in 2016, but Toyota has resurrected the name for this new off-road machine.

The Scion 01 boasts a powerful hybrid system combined with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates over 300 horsepower. This engine is speculated to be a variant of the i-Force Max engine found in the latest Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner, which delivers 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. If the Scion 01 replicates these performance figures, it could surpass many competitors currently available in the side-by-side market, including the supercharged Teryx5 H2 and the turbocharged Can-Am Maverick R.

With off-road enthusiasts increasingly seeking high-power options, the Scion 01 appears well-positioned to attract attention. It features massive all-terrain tires, an impressive 26 inches of suspension travel, and a rugged design that reflects Toyota’s expertise in off-roading. The company has stated that the vehicle is equipped with a “first-of-its-kind” FIA-compliant safety cage.
