Remembering Barbara Ott: A Life of Love and Community Service
Barbara Ann Ott, a cherished member of the Manhattan Beach community, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on June 9, 1937, Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Barron “Barry” Craig Ott and devoted mother to her late sons, David Barron and Christopher Vosnick. She is survived by her son, Craig Brian Ott, his wife Kristin Noel Ott, and her cherished grandson, Kyler Craig Ott.
Barbara’s legacy extends beyond her immediate family. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Molly Ott, along with her nieces, Leanne Ciscerio and Vickey McClarey Vosnick, and her dear cousins, Kathy Krause, Mary Slayter, and Nancy Autio. These relationships encapsulate the warmth and love that Barbara shared throughout her life.
A Life of Service and Faith
Barbara and Barry first crossed paths in San Francisco, California, before establishing their home in Manhattan Beach, where she lived for over 65 years. Her commitment to the community was evident through her active involvement with the Sandpipers, a philanthropic organization dedicated to community service. Barbara also volunteered for the auction at Bishop Montgomery High School, demonstrating her eagerness to support causes that mattered to her.
Faith played a central role in Barbara’s life. As a devoted parishioner of American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach, she attended mass regularly and forged lifelong friendships with fellow parishioners. Her strong sense of community and spirituality was a guiding force in her life.
Passions and Cherished Memories
Barbara had a passion for travel, and Maui, Hawaii, held a special significance for her. She frequently shared this beloved destination with family and friends, creating lasting memories. Known for her unmatched hospitality, Barbara often hosted gatherings at her home, where good food, laughter, and the excitement of University of Oregon Ducks football games brought people together.
A loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend, Barbara’s generous spirit and unwavering love for her family and community will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Her kindness and ability to unite people will be profoundly missed.
A funeral service will be held at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach at 10:00 am on November 14, 2025, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman whose life was rich with love and service.
