Reeds on Riverbanks Offer Unexpected Benefits for Fish Populations
The introduction of reeds along riverbanks may enhance fish populations, according to a recent study led by Professor Alberto Maceda from the University of Barcelona. This research, published in the journal Science of The Total Environment, highlights the potential positive ecological impact of these invasive plants on aquatic life.
Reeds, while known for their invasive characteristics and ability to disrupt local ecosystems, have shown surprising advantages in river environments.
