Iconic rock musician Jon Bon Jovi has embraced a new chapter in his life as he welcomes his first grandchild, a baby girl born to his son, Jake Bongiovi, and daughter-in-law, actress Millie Bobby Brown. In an exclusive interview with Savannah Guthrie on TODAY, Bon Jovi shared his heartfelt reaction to becoming a grandfather. “Immediately you fall in love,” he expressed, recalling the moment he met the newborn, whose name has not yet been publicly announced.

The couple announced their adoption of the baby on August 21, 2023, a significant milestone for both the new parents and Bon Jovi. “You’re like, ‘That’s my granddaughter,’” he added, reflecting on the immediate bond he felt. Interestingly, Bon Jovi has chosen the grandfather name “Papa,” a title that amusingly aligns with a character from Brown’s popular series, “Stranger Things.”

Bon Jovi Looks Forward to Family Moments

In the interview, Bon Jovi lightheartedly stated, “She won’t be able to walk for at least 10 or 12 years because Papa will be carrying her everywhere she goes.” He humorously suggested that they should prepare baby headsets for her to join him on his upcoming “Forever” tour, which is set to kick off next summer at Madison Square Garden. When Guthrie asked if he anticipated her presence on tour, Bon Jovi confirmed, “Yeah, I count on that.”

On October 9, 2023, Jake Bongiovi and Millie Bobby Brown shared a glimpse into their new life as parents through an Instagram post. The carousel of photos included a touching moment of the couple touching foreheads while holding their daughter, with her tiny foot visible in the picture.

Bon Jovi also spoke on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast hosted by Bunny XO about his eagerness to witness his granddaughter grow. “I want to see pictures like every other day,” he said, admitting he is already the “pain-in-the-butt guy” in the family. He also mentioned that he is about to become a grandfather again, as his son Jesse Bongiovi and his wife are expecting a baby as well.

A Grateful Family Man

The musician, who shares four children—Stephanie, Jesse, Jake, and Romeo—with his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, reflected on the joys of family life during an interview with Sunday TODAY’s Willie Geist. “I’ve never not been grateful. This is all pixie dust at the end. What have I got? I’ve got a wife and family that love me. I’ve got a band that believes in me. I’ve had a good life,” Bon Jovi remarked, emphasizing the importance of family and love in his life.

This new role as a grandfather adds another layer to Bon Jovi’s storied life, which has included decades of success in the music industry. As he prepares for his tour and the adventures of grandparenthood, Bon Jovi continues to celebrate the moments that matter most.
