Gordon A. Bushee, a respected engineer and devoted family man, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 85 after a prolonged battle with multiple health issues, including thyroid cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer, and congestive heart failure. His death marks the end of a life filled with dedication to both his profession and his family.

Born on January 10, 1940, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Gordon was the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Batchelder) Bushee. When he was young, his family relocated to Danby, Vermont, where he spent much of his early life. After completing his education, he moved to Connecticut, where he began a successful career as an engineer for the State of Connecticut.

Gordon’s commitment to service extended beyond his professional life. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years, demonstrating a sense of duty that defined his character.

In Connecticut, he met and married Ruthann Barr Bushee. Their union lasted for 60 years, during which they welcomed a son, Scott Bushee, who became a source of immense pride for Gordon.

Gordon had a profound love for the outdoors, with fishing and hunting being among his favorite activities. He was an active member of the Power Squadron, Belltown Sportsman’s Club, and the Fly Fishers Association. His passion for fixing things was well-known; there was little that Gordon could not repair, earning him a reputation as a dependable problem-solver among friends and family.
