Community Mourns the Loss of Young Cancer Fighter Riley Rejniak

Tragedy struck the community of Leesport, Pennsylvania, as 13-year-old Riley Jacob Rejniak passed away on December 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted over eight years. Known for his optimism and bravery, Riley often reassured those around him with the words, “I’m not worried about it.”

Born in Reading, Riley was the beloved son of Gregory and Ashley N. (Leonhard) Rejniak. As a seventh-grade student at Schuylkill Valley School District, he was regarded as a bright spirit, exhibiting a keen curiosity about the world around him. His interests ranged from dinosaurs to the intricacies of praying mantises, reflecting an inquisitive mind eager to learn.

Riley’s adventurous nature drew him to various activities, including fishing, hunting, and swimming. He also immersed himself in the worlds presented by video games, finding joy in both their challenges and narratives. His love for scary movies made him a source of laughter and bravery among his friends, while his unwavering faith provided strength and inspiration to those around him.

A devoted fan of his favorite superhero, Spiderman, Riley’s enthusiasm extended to music as well, with the band Imagine Dragons holding a special place in his heart. His family connections were equally cherished; he shared a strong bond with his brothers, Greyson and Elijah, and maintained close relationships with cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Riley is survived by his brothers, Greyson C. and Elijah J. Rejniak of Leesport, as well as his paternal grandmother, Stephanie A. (Coulter) Rejniak of Tilden Township. His maternal grandparents, Todd L. and Theresa M. (Svenson) Leonhard of Bernville, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins, also mourn his passing. Riley was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Stephen J. Rejniak.
