The American Legion, the largest veterans service organization in the United States, is set to host a town hall meeting focused on Veterans Affairs (VA) health care concerns in Connecticut. This event aims to connect veterans directly with Legion representatives and VA staff to address issues affecting their health care experiences.

The town hall will take place on September 22, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00 at American Legion Post 127, located at 630 Grassy Hill Road, Orange. Attendance is free, and no prior registration is required. This initiative is part of the Legion’s System Worth Saving program, which conducts on-site visits across the United States to facilitate discussions between veterans and VA medical staff.

During the town hall, veterans will have the opportunity to share their experiences and voice concerns regarding VA health care. American Legion representatives will be present to listen and address questions raised by attendees. The event aims to foster open communication and provide a platform for veterans to discuss their health care challenges.

Each year, the American Legion’s Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission undertakes site visits to various VA medical facilities and regional offices. These visits allow representatives to meet with veterans, their families, and VA administrators, facilitating discussions around pressing issues and potential solutions. Insights gathered during these visits are compiled into a System Worth Saving report, which is then distributed to VA officials, members of Congress, and the public.

The American Legion emphasizes the importance of these town hall events in ensuring that veterans receive the care and support they need. By engaging directly with veterans, the Legion seeks to address systemic issues and advocate for necessary improvements within the VA health care system.
