The Teen Action and Support Center (TASC) is set to host its inaugural Alternatives to College Night on August 29, 2023, from 17:30 to 19:30 at The Hub located at 1194 W. Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas. This event aims to provide teenagers and their parents with an opportunity to explore various post-high school options beyond traditional college pathways.

Representatives from local trade, technical, and beauty schools will be present, offering a casual environment for attendees to learn about alternative educational and career opportunities. TASC emphasizes the importance of exposing young people to diverse career paths, particularly in fields that may not require a four-year college degree.

Community Partnerships Enhance Event

The Alternatives to College Night is bolstered by the support of several community partners, including Pak Home Realty, the NWACC Certificate Program, Arkansas Workforce Connections, and Brightwater. Additional participants include the Career Academy of Hair Design, the Arkansas College of Electricity, and the Academy of Professional Cosmetology. Local businesses such as Frisco Tattoo and State Farm, along with educational institutions like NWTI and Trailside Yoga, are also contributing to the event’s success.

Supporting Local Teens

Founded in 2005, TASC serves adolescents aged 13 to 19 in Benton and Washington Counties. The organization operates three locations in the region, including The Hub and the Restore Counseling Center in Rogers, as well as The Station in Springdale. This event marks a significant effort by TASC to address the diverse needs of local youth by providing resources and guidance for their futures.

By facilitating this exploration of career alternatives, TASC hopes to empower teens to make informed decisions about their next steps after high school. As the job market evolves, understanding various pathways can help young people find fulfilling careers that align with their interests and skills.
