The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has announced the graduation of its latest cohort from the Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) Training Academy. PST Class 25-01, which includes 12 Police Complaint Officers and four Police Dispatchers, has successfully completed a demanding 16-week training program. These individuals are now poised to receive their certificates of completion and are ready to serve the community.

This comprehensive training involved a curriculum that meets the standards set by the Florida Department of Health for PST Certification. Participants received training in essential areas such as Emergency Medical Dispatch and CPR. They also engaged in an in-depth study of Miami-Dade County’s geography and the operational policies of the Sheriff’s Office.

Each year, these officers handle an impressive volume of approximately 2.2 million 911 calls, while the dispatchers manage over 51 million radio transmissions. These statistics underline the critical role that telecommunicators play in ensuring public safety and effective emergency responses.
