The Mid-Hudson Valley region is buzzing with a variety of community events as the summer season unfolds. From educational programs to art exhibitions and musical performances, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this vibrant area.
Educational Opportunities and Art Exhibitions
The deadline to enroll in the “Lifespring” adult learning community in Saugerties is fast approaching. Interested participants must register by August 22, 2025, for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. Lifespring offers a range of courses, available both online via Zoom and in-person at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation, located at 1682 Glasco Turnpike, Saugerties. Art enthusiasts can visit the Olive Free Library’s exhibition, “Address: Earth Art Expo — Reef & Desert Editions,” running until September 21. This showcase features the works of 13 local visual artists across various media at the library located at 4033 State Route 28A, West Shokan.
The Historical Society of Woodstock is also hosting an exhibition titled “Making Her Mark: 50 Women Artists of the Historic Woodstock Art Colony” at 20 Comeau Drive, Woodstock. This exhibit, which highlights the contributions of women artists, is open on weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. until September 14, with free admission.
Upcoming Performances and Community Engagement
A range of musical events is scheduled, including a performance by the rhythm and blues group, The Saints, at Belleayre Mountain on August 15 at 6 p.m.. This concert is part of the free “Music on the Belle” series and will feature food trucks, gondola rides, and lawn games.
Additionally, Arm-of-the-Sea Theater will present the annual Esopus Creek Puppet Suite from August 15 to 17 at the Tidewater Center, located at 57 E. Bridge St., Saugerties. The show starts at 7 p.m. with tickets priced at $15 for adults and $5 for children.
Film buffs can enjoy a screening of the 1929 Marx Brothers comedy “The Cocoanuts” on August 16 at 7 p.m. at the Staatsburgh State Historic Site, located at 75 Mills Mansion Drive, Staatsburg. The film is part of a series of screenings celebrating works that have entered the public domain in 2025. Admission is $5, and registration is required.
Community members are also invited to participate in a series of open mic nights advocating for long-term recovery housing in Ulster County on August 16 and 23. These events will take place at the Church of the Comforter, located at 26 Wynkoop Place, Kingston, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with no cover charge.
The Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market has opened its 31st season, running every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the municipal parking lot at 61 E. Market St. The market features local produce and goods and will operate outside until December 29.
For those looking to explore wellness activities, “Aquoga,” water-based yoga classes, will be held at the Rosendale Town Pool on Saturdays until August 23 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Classes are priced at $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents.
The local community continues to engage in various activities, fostering connections through art, education, and music. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to participate in these enriching experiences throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley.
