A freeze warning has been issued for the Front Range as temperatures are set to drop significantly on Monday and Tuesday nights. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder predicts that overnight lows will reach the upper 20s to low 30s in some areas, while higher elevations could see temperatures fall into the teens.

The cold front that swept through Colorado on Monday brought a band of showers, which are expected to dissipate by midnight. While some snow is possible on the plains if precipitation lingers, the NWS noted that the storms arrived slightly ahead of schedule. Tuesday will remain cool, with daytime highs only reaching the upper 40s to low 50s, coupled with gusty winds that will make conditions feel even colder.

According to the NWS, this cold snap is likely to result in a killing freeze, marking the end of the growing season for many plants. Residents are advised to take precautions, such as covering sensitive vegetation and winterizing sprinkler systems.

Looking ahead, the cold weather will not persist for long. Starting Wednesday, temperatures are expected to return to near seasonal averages, with highs reaching the upper 50s through Friday. The forecast indicates a dry and mild Halloween, ideal for trick-or-treating, followed by a weekend warm-up with temperatures climbing into the upper 60s on Saturday and mid-70s on Sunday.

The Denver7 weather team has projected a high of 74°F on Sunday, approaching the daily record of 78°F, set on November 2, 2008. This fluctuation in temperatures highlights the dynamic weather patterns that characterize Colorado during this time of year.
