Aiken Senior Center Launches Engaging Lecture Series for Seniors

A new lecture series designed to empower and educate seniors is set to commence at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior and Youth Center on September 9, 2024. The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department will host the 4L’s Series: Living, Loving & Lifelong Learning for Senior Adults, which aims to provide valuable insights on various topics relevant to older adults.

The series will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month until April 7, 2025. Each session offers a relaxed environment where an experienced instructor will guide discussions tailored to enhance the everyday lives of participants.

Lecture Topics and Schedule

Participants can look forward to the following engaging topics:

– **September 9**: Mind Matters: Tips for a Sharper Brain as You Age
– **October 7**: Breast Cancer in Seniors: Risk, Early Detection, & Treatment Options
– **November 4**: Stay Safe, Stay Smart: Protecting Your Money & Identity
– **February 3**: Love Your Heart: Simple Ways to Stay Strong at Any Age
– **March 3**: Eat Well, Live Well: Smart Nutrition for Healthy Aging
– **April 7**: Aging Gracefully: Caring for Your Skin and Hair at Every Stage

Each session costs $5, which includes lunch for attendees. In an added incentive, participants aged 80 and older will have opportunities to win various prizes throughout the series.
