A new nightlife venue called Downtime is set to make its debut in San Francisco’s Mission District at 2243 Mission Street. This nightclub and restaurant concept will occupy the former location of Bissap Baobab and is expected to open in late Fall 2026. Currently, the approximately 6,000-square-foot space is undergoing renovations, which include enhancements to the sound system and modifications aimed at creating a vibrant dance floor atmosphere.

A Unique Hybrid Experience

Downtime promises a unique experience that blends a nightclub environment with quality food and beverages. Guests can look forward to an array of offerings that include cocktails, natural wines, and a menu that emphasizes bar-style food, though it will notably not feature pizza. This innovative concept is spearheaded by the co-owners of Bar Part Time, a local natural wine bar celebrated for its lively dance parties and consistent patronage. The ownership team comprises Dan Small, Jeremy Castillo, and Justin Dolezal, who aim to build on the success of their existing establishment.

Bar Part Time has cultivated a reputation for its selection of low intervention wines and an energetic nightlife setting. Joining the team at Downtime is Eric Ochoa, who will direct the cocktail program. Ochoa, known for his work at Dalva and previously at ABV and Bar Agricole, is recognized for his inventive yet classic cocktail style, focusing on bright and balanced flavors without overly complex preparations.

Natural Wines and Culinary Collaboration

In keeping with the philosophy of Bar Part Time, Downtime will also emphasize the zero-zero natural wine approach. Zero-zero wines, characterized by ultra-minimal intervention, contain no additives or removals, including sulfur. The wine list is expected to reflect a similar ethos, highlighting expressive selections that resonate with the brand’s identity.

The culinary offerings at Downtime will be crafted by the team behind Rose Pizzeria, led by Gerad Gobel and Alexis Rorabaugh. While the connection to Rose Pizzeria is significant, the new venue will focus on bar-centric dishes rather than pizza, aiming to complement its vibrant atmosphere.

With its spacious design, upgraded sound system, and an experienced hospitality team, Downtime aims to enhance the nightlife landscape in the Mission District. This new venue is poised to attract both locals and visitors, contributing to the area’s reputation as a hub for dynamic dining and entertainment experiences.
