New Britain Resident Raymond Archacki Passes Away at 93

Raymond Joseph Archacki, a lifelong resident of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2025, at the age of 93. Archacki, known for his deep roots in the community and a passion for golf, was the youngest son of Stanley and Bronislawa Archacki. He was married for 65 years to Barbara Hrenko, who predeceased him in 2024.
He is survived by his son, Raymond Jr., and his wife Paula, as well as his son Michael and partner Linda Suski. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Raymond Archacki III and Lea (Archacki) Koehnken, along with her husband Chris, and his two great-grandchildren, Shea and Jake. Archacki is also remembered by his younger sister, Irene Jezewski, sister-in-law Dorothy Parker, and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
Career and Passion for Golf
Archacki graduated from New Britain High School and embarked on a long career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. A significant career shift in the 1970s allowed him to embrace his love for golf. He played regularly at Stanley Golf Course, often teeing off before his work shift and throughout weekends. Upon retiring in 1991, he intensified his golfing pursuits, earning the nickname “Everyday Ray” from his many golfing partners.
His commitment to the sport was unwavering; rain or shine, Archacki played without a golf cart, walking the course daily. Beyond his own game, he took joy in mentoring young players, offering guidance not only on golf but also on life’s challenges. In recognition of his contributions, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart honored him with a certificate as “honorary mayor” of Stanley Golf Course during his 90th birthday celebration in 2022.
Legacy and Final Farewell
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on August 25, 2025, from 16:00 to 19:00 at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, located at 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053. A funeral service will take place at 18:00, followed by a repast at the Event Center next door to celebrate Archacki’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to First Tee – Connecticut, a youth development organization dedicated to building character and resilience in young people through golf. Donations can be sent to First Tee – Connecticut, 55 Golf Club Road, Cromwell, CT 06416 or made online at https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/firstteeconnecticut.
Archacki’s impact on his family, friends, and the community will be remembered fondly, as he leaves behind a legacy of love, mentorship, and a deep appreciation for the game of golf.
