Born in the front room of his childhood home at 254 Jefferson Street, Cirulli has lived a life rich in experiences and achievements. He is remembered not only for reaching this impressive age but also for his deep ties to the community and his family.

Cirulli’s life journey began on November 8, 1925, as the youngest among his siblings, which include Alfred, Teresa, Mary, Annie, Tony, Samuel, Angeline, and Julie Cirulli. His parents, Belsario and Marie Antoinette Ciccarne Cirulli, instilled in him strong family values that he carries to this day. Throughout his life, Cirulli has called various places home, including Philadelphia and the Philippines during his military service in the U.S. Army, before settling back in Reading for the majority of his life.

His late wife, Catherine Cirulli, was a significant part of his life for 47 years until her passing at the age of 94. Together, they shared the joys of raising three children, Frank, Marie, and Jack, all of whom have since passed, along with their son Sam and stepdaughter Rene. Jim is also a proud grandfather to several grandchildren, including Elizabeth, Ralph, John, and Samantha, and has numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Cirulli’s education concluded at the ninth grade; he left school to learn a trade and subsequently built a successful career. He served as a cook in the Army, which led him to learn shoe repair alongside his brother, Samuel, in Shillington. For 18 years, he operated his own shoe repair shop in Laureldale before establishing T&C Knife Rentals in Reading, where he worked for an impressive 40 years.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Cirulli has a passion for gardening, woodworking, and home improvement. He finds joy in working with his hands, creating and maintaining a vibrant living environment. His hobbies have not only kept him engaged but have also fostered a sense of community among family and friends.

As he reflects on his century-long life, Jim Cirulli embodies resilience and dedication. He remains a cherished figure in Reading, celebrated not only for his age but also for the love and wisdom he shares with those around him. This milestone birthday serves as a testament to his enduring spirit and the legacy he continues to build within his family and community.
