The Heartland Center for Spirituality has announced a new initiative inviting individuals to participate in a two-year program titled Pilgrimage of the Heart. This program aims to guide participants on a transformative spiritual journey, encouraging a shift away from self-reliance and a return to the “Tree of Life,” which symbolizes a restoration of humanity in the likeness of Christ.

The program is divided into two distinct years, each focusing on different aspects of spiritual growth.

Year One: Laying the Foundation

During the first year, participants will explore the biblical narrative, examining God’s work from creation to recreation. The curriculum emphasizes understanding the impact of the Fall and how God has historically called humanity back to Him. This foundational year is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of their faith and its historical context.

Year Two: Engaging in Practice

The second year shifts focus towards practical application. Participants will engage with various spiritual tools provided by the Church for personal transformation. This includes practices such as Lectio Divina, contemplation, and meditation, along with adhering to the Christian calendar. These methods are intended to enrich the spiritual lives of attendees and foster a deeper connection with their faith.

The inaugural session of the program is scheduled for March 21, 2024, from 09:00 to 15:00 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse, located at 3600 Broadway Ave. Participants are encouraged to attend this first session to experience the journey firsthand and determine if this pilgrimage aligns with their spiritual calling.

Instructor Jeff Koch emphasizes the importance of the initial meeting and invites potential participants to engage with the material. A personal invitation from Koch can be found in an introductory video available online.
