British Mother Reveals Health Struggles Behind Loss of Libido

A 42-year-old mother from South Wales has shared her shocking experience of a sudden loss of sexual desire, revealing that serious health issues were at the root of her struggles. Leanne Jones, previously described as “horny,” found herself unexpectedly unable to feel aroused or reach climax, which caused significant strain in her relationship with her partner, Adam, 40.

Jones explained that her shift in libido was alarming, stating, “I went from being very highly sex driven to feeling like Grandpa Joe from ‘Willy Wonka.’” Initially, her partner took her change in interest personally, believing it indicated a lack of love. Despite her efforts, she could not reclaim her previous sexual enthusiasm.

Seeking answers, Jones experienced debilitating fatigue and partial hearing loss, prompting her to consult a doctor. Following an MRI scan, she received a diagnosis of two serious conditions: Multiple Sclerosis (MS), which affects the central nervous system, and functional neurological disorder, impacting the brain’s ability to communicate with the body.

“Because of the nerve damage to the brain and spine, the signals needed for arousal, sensation and orgasm are no longer there,” Jones explained. She elaborated on the complications women face, including low libido, diminished sensation, reduced lubrication, and pain during intimacy.

Despite the initial challenges, Adam Jones remained supportive throughout her health journey. “There have been many times my partner could’ve walked away, but he says we are a team,” she noted. During a consultation with an MS neurologist, both partners discussed the intimate difficulties, which helped Adam understand that the issue was not personal but rather a result of Leanne’s medical condition.

Advocacy and Awareness

In an effort to raise awareness about the sexual health implications of MS, Jones has turned to social media, particularly TikTok, to connect with others facing similar challenges. “I had a number of male sufferers message to thank me for discussing it as a few of them had lost partners over it,” she said. “This is why it’s so important to raise awareness. It’s such a debilitating and lonely life.”

Jones also shared that her condition has led to further complications, including speech difficulties, mobility challenges, and vision problems. Nevertheless, she remains determined to enjoy life. “I want people to know that even though it feels like a prison sentence, it’s not,” she stated. “You’ve got to work with it, not against it, as there’s so much to live for.”

Her story not only highlights the personal struggles related to sexual health but also emphasizes the importance of understanding and support within relationships affected by chronic illnesses. Jones’s candidness serves as a reminder of the need for open dialogue about the intimate impacts of health conditions on individuals and their partners.
