Montgomery County Food Safety Inspections Reveal Serious Violations

Food safety inspections conducted by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health during the week of October 26 to November 1, 2025, uncovered a range of serious violations across several dining establishments. Among the most alarming findings was the discovery of a live roach in the dry storage area of Nudy’s Café of Ardmore, prompting immediate action from health officials.

Inspections are a crucial part of ensuring food safety in retail food and drink establishments in Montgomery County. Each establishment is inspected annually, with follow-up visits possible if initial inspections reveal violations or if complaints arise. The Montgomery County Office of Public Health emphasizes that these reports are a snapshot of conditions at the time of inspection and may not reflect the long-term cleanliness of an establishment.

At the Souderton Family Restaurant, inspectors noted that time/temperature control for safety (TCS) sauces were found to be out of date, leading to their voluntary disposal. Additionally, cut strawberries were observed at an internal temperature exceeding 41°F, which also resulted in their disposal. Other violations included improper storage of single-use items and ice build-up in freezers, which indicate a need for improved maintenance practices.

Another establishment, Argento’s Pizza & Family Restaurant, faced multiple issues, including the absence of a Certified Food Sanitation Manager as required by law. Employees were also found storing food on the floor, and in-use utensils were improperly stored. The facility was instructed to correct these violations within 30 days to avoid further legal action.

At Nudy’s Café of Ardmore, besides the presence of a live roach and rodent droppings, inspectors found that opened packaged food items were not stored correctly, increasing the risk of contamination. The establishment was given ten business days to provide proof of pest control measures taken to address these issues.

The inspections also highlighted recurring problems across various establishments. Many locations, including Urban’s and Chipotle, were cited for failing to maintain proper cold holding temperatures, with food items recorded above the safe threshold. Facilities are reminded to adhere to food safety regulations to protect public health.

“Food safety is a shared responsibility,”

said a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Office of Public Health. They encouraged patrons to report any health concerns following their dining experiences using the county’s complaint form.
