The Volunteer Attorney Program of New Mexico Legal Aid will host a free legal fair in Santa Fe on March 16, 2024. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hotel Glorieta, located at 750 N. St. Francis Drive. This initiative aims to provide free legal assistance to individuals whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, subject to certain asset limitations.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive help from qualified lawyers across various legal fields. Areas of assistance include family law matters such as divorce, custody, and child support, as well as landlord/tenant disputes, debtor/creditor issues, wills, contracts, and employment law, including unemployment benefits.

The legal fair operates on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring that as many individuals as possible can benefit from the service. Support will be available in both English and Spanish, making the event accessible to a broader audience.

For those requiring additional assistance, such as a sign language interpreter, New Mexico Legal Aid encourages individuals to reach out in advance for accommodations. Interested parties can obtain further information by calling 1-877-266-9861 or by emailing [email protected].

This fair represents a significant opportunity for residents of Santa Fe to access essential legal services without the burden of cost, highlighting the ongoing commitment of the Volunteer Attorney Program to support the community.
