University of Cincinnati Welcomes 14 New Faculty to Enhance Programs
The University of Cincinnati’s College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology (CECH) has announced the addition of 14 new faculty members for the academic year. This strategic move aims to strengthen the college’s educational and research programs, furthering its commitment to develop effective change agents across various disciplines.
Dean Lisa Huffman expressed her excitement about the new hires, emphasizing the unique talents and expertise they bring to the college. “I am thrilled to welcome our newest faculty members,” she stated, indicating a positive outlook for the college’s environment and its mission.
New Faculty Profiles and Their Contributions
Among the new faculty members is Lori Foote, who will serve as the program coordinator for the Educational Studies master’s program. Foote will also teach courses in Statistics and Introduction to Research Methodology, leveraging her research experience to enrich the curriculum. Another addition, Kierstin Giunco, will focus on literacy assessment, guiding students in exploring effective teaching strategies in diverse educational settings.
The School of Human Services has also expanded its team with notable hires, including Natalie Bunch. Bunch brings a unique perspective to her teaching, having completed 15 half marathons, which complements her academic credentials and hands-on industry experience. Additionally, Yuima Mizutani joins the faculty with a focus on counseling techniques, equipped with licensure across multiple states to enhance his teaching.
The School of Information Technology has welcomed Renkai Ma and Emrah Uğurlu. Ma has transitioned from working with major technology companies to academia, where he will teach and develop educational games. Uğurlu will address the growing field of cybersecurity, preparing students to navigate and respond to digital threats effectively.
Enriching Education and Fostering Innovation
These new appointments reflect the college’s dedication to not just academic rigor but also the diverse backgrounds and interests of its faculty. With interests ranging from distance running to avian observation, these educators exemplify lives that extend beyond academia, enriching their teaching with real-world experiences.
