Advocating for Educational Excellence
BASA serves as a statewide professional association dedicated to representing Ohio’s school superintendents, central office administrators, and other key education leaders. The organization focuses on supporting and developing educational leadership that aims to enhance the quality of public education in Ohio.
Since her appointment as superintendent in 2021, Wentworth has been an active member of BASA, contributing to various initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes. Her leadership has been characterized by significant advancements in district facility planning and the establishment of learning pathways designed to equip students for college, careers, and life readiness. Under her guidance, New Philadelphia Schools has also seen consistent improvements on the State Report Card, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence.
A Commitment to Collaboration and Advocacy
In her new role, Wentworth expressed her gratitude, stating, “It is an honor to serve as BASA’s 56th president. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent school leaders across our state, to advocate for the needs of students and educators, and to continue the important work of strengthening Ohio’s public schools.”
Wentworth will collaborate with BASA’s executive board and its membership to tackle critical challenges and seize opportunities facing public education today. David Axner, the executive director of BASA, commended Wentworth’s reputation across Ohio, highlighting her commitment to students and her collaborative leadership style. “We are proud to have her serve as BASA’s next president and know she will continue to elevate the voice of Ohio’s school leaders,” Axner remarked.
As she embarks on this new chapter, Wentworth aims to foster a supportive environment for educators and students alike, ensuring that the needs of public schools are met effectively and efficiently. Her leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the ongoing discussions about educational policies and practices in Ohio.
