Clemson University Appoints Ramesh Jeganathan as FNPS Chair

Clemson University has officially appointed Ramesh Jeganathan as the new chair of its Department of Food, Nutrition and Packaging Sciences (FNPS). This leadership change marks a significant development for one of the university’s most interdisciplinary departments, known for its extensive impact on education and research.

Prior to joining Clemson, Jeganathan served at Auburn University, where he amassed over 25 years of academic experience. His past roles included the Bruno Endowed Professor of Nutrition, Graduate Program Director, and Interim Co-Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. He has also held the position of Southeastern Conference Provost Fellow, reflecting his extensive background in academic leadership.

“I am honored and humbled to serve as chair of FNPS,” Jeganathan stated. He expressed his alignment with Clemson’s mission as a land-grant institution, which emphasizes the integration of education, research, and outreach. “This is a meaningful opportunity to lead a department that connects science and industry to impact communities positively.”

Matthew “Matt” Holt, Dean of Clemson’s College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences, expressed enthusiasm about Jeganathan’s appointment.
