New Mercedes-Benz GLB EV Set to Launch with Cutting-Edge Features

The highly anticipated 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLB electric crossover is set to make its official debut on December 8, 2026. This new model will replace the outgoing EQB, integrating advanced technology and spacious seating for families. The GLB will offer three rows of seats and an interior featuring multiple screens that resemble modern flatscreen televisions.

Based on the MMA modular architecture shared with the new CLA sedan, the second-generation GLB showcases a contemporary design with a focus on driver experience. Its interior will include the MBUX Superscreen, consisting of three high-definition displays. While the exact dimensions of these displays have not been disclosed, they are expected to mirror the setup found in the CLA, which features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster alongside two 14-inch touchscreens. For those who may find three screens excessive, the GLB will offer base models without the passenger display as an option.

The interior design borrows elements from the CLA, including a “floating” center console and physical controls located below the central screen. Passengers will benefit from more headroom and comfort, thanks to the GLB’s boxy shape and a standard panoramic glass roof. The seven-seater model will provide a notably spacious environment, with an adjustable middle row that can slide forward and back. This feature will also be available on the five-seater version.

Enhancing the driving experience, the GLB’s panoramic roof will come equipped with heat-insulating laminated safety glass. It features an infrared-reflecting coating and a low-emissivity (LowE) coating on the interior, designed to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature year-round. While the standard roof is transparent, an optional variable transparency feature will allow customers to adjust the opacity of individual segments in as little as 10 milliseconds. Additionally, buyers can choose to illuminate the panoramic roof in sync with the vehicle’s ambient lights.

While the specifics of the GLB’s powertrain remain under wraps, it is expected to incorporate technology from the CLA sedan. Potential options include an all-electric variant utilizing 800-volt technology for efficient charging, along with a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter gasoline engine for those seeking a traditional power source.
