The 4th Annual Winter Art Market is set to take place at the New Dawn Arts Center in Ashburnham on December 6, 2023. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and aims to support local artisans and small businesses by providing a platform for unique shopping opportunities during the holiday season.

Expanding Community Engagement

According to Abigail Abbott, Director of New Dawn Arts Center, the Winter Art Market has become a cherished part of the town’s annual Arts and Culture Day. “We’ve held this market as a part of the town’s Art and Culture Day for the past four years,” Abbott stated. “It’s been really great to see how this event has grown and evolved, and we’re always excited to see all the wonderful vendors who come in to sell their arts and crafts.”

Visitors to the market can expect a vibrant atmosphere, with the opportunity to browse a variety of handmade goods while enjoying live music from Robbie B, who will perform in the center’s performance hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Abbott emphasized the unique experience offered at the center, noting, “Where else can you listen to live music while you do your Christmas shopping?”

Complementary Activities Across Ashburnham

The Winter Art Market is just one highlight of Ashburnham’s broader Arts and Culture Day, which features activities at various local venues. The Creative Connections Gift Shop and Gallery, located at 56 Main St., will host an artist reception for Joanne Holtje from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Meanwhile, the Frederick Collection of Historic Pianos at 30 Main St. will offer drop-in viewing hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Stevens Memorial Library will also participate by offering several family-friendly activities. Abbott mentioned, “They will have an ornament craft set up for anyone who wants to drop into their makerspace in the children’s library, and enjoy Santa Storytime from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Adults can engage in creative endeavors as well, with a Winter Landscape Painting program scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and a Holiday Greenery Arrangement Workshop fundraiser with the Friends of the Stevens Memorial Library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Abbott highlighted the convenience of the event’s layout, stating, “All of these events are taking place within a half-mile radius of each other. It makes it easy for visitors to experience any – or all – of the activities planned during Arts and Culture Day.”
