Students from Bradley County Virtual School displayed their artistic talents during a Student Art Showcase on December 14, 2023, at the Museum and Cultural Center at 5ive Points. This event marked a significant opportunity for young artists to present their works to the public, demonstrating their skills and creativity.

The showcase featured artworks from several students, including Madison Brewster, whose painting “Guard Dog” pays tribute to one of her family’s cats. Brewster humorously remarked, “She thinks she’s a dog,” highlighting the playful nature of her artwork. Adam Romano, the museum’s curator of art exhibits and programs, has been guiding the students since September, focusing on technical art skills, entrepreneurship, and potential career paths in the arts.

Romano emphasized the importance of this event for the students, stating, “For some of these students, this was their first chance to engage with art in a museum setting.” He expressed his commitment to providing a platform for these budding artists to explore various career paths in the arts and humanities. “I seek this to be an opportunity for our young artists to create connections and learn more about the possibilities of arts-based careers,” he added.

The showcase provided not only an exhibition space but also a valuable networking opportunity for students to engage with key figures in the local arts community. Romano noted that allowing these students to present their work fosters a supportive environment where they can continue their artistic education.

The artworks, along with preliminary drawings and study materials, will remain on display until December 17, 2023. For those interested in exploring the museum’s exhibitions and programs further, more information is available on the museum’s website.

This showcase exemplifies the museum’s dedication to nurturing young talent and promoting the arts within the community. It highlights the importance of artistic expression and provides a unique venue for students to share their creativity with a wider audience.
