Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Family Home in Yakima
A suspect was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing into a family home in Yakima, Washington, early on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 1:49 a.m. when a vehicle collided with the bedroom of a residence located in the 6000 block of Ahtanum Road.
Upon impact, the car caught fire, prompting a swift response from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived at the scene to find that all four residents of the home, along with the driver, had been evacuated and were receiving medical attention. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the adult male who occupied the impacted room was unharmed.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, which had spread to the house, preventing further damage. In addition, Pacific Power responded to the situation due to the involvement of nearby power lines, ensuring the safety of the area.
After the crash, the driver was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. In light of the home’s damage, deputies contacted the American Red Cross to assist the displaced family, as the residence was rendered uninhabitable.
